Mollie Glazer studied cello and viola da gamba at New England Conservatory of Music and the Royal Conservatory of The Netherlands. She has performed and recorded with many of this country’s period instrument ensembles and is a frequent soloist with the Bethlehem Bach Choir. Mollie has produced two of her own CD’s: one with with former student, cellist Ethan Philbrick, and the other with island harpist, Mary Keller. Also a composer, she has written scores for Terry Beck Troupe modern dance company that have been performed by the Pennsylvania Ballet and the National Dance Company of Wales. Mollie wrote the score for an Emmy-award winning film, If the Walls Could Talk. After an extensive teaching and free-lancing career in New York City, Mollie moved to Nantucket in 1992 and has been busy teaching cello, ukulele, and string ensembles for NCMC. In 2007, she became the Executive Director and later the Artistic Director and Artistic Director Emerita. Mollie has also taught classes at Nantucket Public Schools, Nantucket Lighthouse School, Nantucket New School, and the Nantucket Atheneum. She is an active performer in collaboration with many island musicians.
